BSP corrects mistakes in new polymer P1,000 bill

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) assured the public on Monday (Dec. 13) that the errors in their sample of the new Philippine P1,000 polymer bill have been corrected.

This was after a netizen criticized the mistakes in spelling and formatting of the scientific name of the Philippine eagle which can be found in the new P1,000 bill design.

BSP Gov. Benjamin Diokno first clarified that the bill they presented to the public was merely a sample of the money sent to them for review.

He said the mistakes in the bill, the spelling, and the italicization of the scientific name of the Philippine eagle were already corrected.

“Necessary corrections have already been made, including the spelling and italicizing of the scientific name of the Philippine eagle.”

The new bill, made of polymer, is scheduled to be in circulation by mid-2022. – (PTV News)/PG – bny
