Davao City woodpusher rules Pacquiao chess tilt

MANILA – Jimmy Dano of Davao City won the Hon. Senator Emmanuel “Manny” D. Pacquiao Individual Open Over the Board Chess Tournament that took place at the Robinsons Place in General Santos City on Dec. 17.

Dano won with 6 points, the same output of NM Johnel Balquin of Cagayan de Oro City, NM Zulfikar Sali of Zamboanga City, NM Bob Jones Liwagon of Kidapawan City and Reynaldo Aba-A of Davao City according to tournament organizers Orly Ortega and Diovic Nalam of the Pacman Chess Association.

With better tie-break points, Dano earned the P10,000 top prize while Balquin took the runner-up purse worth P7,000.

Sali pocketed the third prize of P5,000 while Liwagon brought home the fourth prize of P3,000. Aba-A
settled for fifth and got P2,000.

Rounding up the top ten woodpushers who got P1,000 each are sixth Reynaldo Conte (5.5 pts.), seventh Dillon Intilla (5 pts.), eight Jayson Salubre (5 pts.), ninth Allan Mariveles (5 pts.), and tenth NM Henry Roger Lopez ( 5 pts.).

Meanwhile, Team EL Dumadag composed of Team Manager Laurence Larry Dumadag, Harrison Maamo, Rogelio Canoy, and Rhenz Rheann Estareja Auza took the top purse of P30,000 after winning the Over The Board Team Tournament. (PR) – bny
