DOST seeks research collaboration with SUCs

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is promoting partnership with state colleges and universities (SUCs) and other research institutions in the country to boost inventions of new technologies in the country.

DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena mentioned the partnership with the SUCs and other research institutions during the opening of the National Inventors Week celebration held at F.L. Dy Coliseum in this city on Monday.

Dela Pena said the SUCs and research institutions are vital partners of DOST in producing important inventions or technologies that would advance the economy and make the life of every Filipino easier.

“SUCs are our important partners in various research and development activities and the DOST wants to support their innovations or inventions,” Dela Pena said.

He specifically cited the Isabela State University (ISU) which has conducted research on small ruminants program and the new research on marine products specifically on eel and “ludong” production.

Dela Pena assured the support of DOST in the said research and development activities of ISU as he vowed to give the said SUC the necessary support to make the eel and ludong production a success.

Aside from ISU, the DOST also identified the Nueva Vizcaya State University for its citrus production.

“We assure that DOST will enhance partnership with the academic sector in the country in terms of research and development,”

He also cited the DOST’s collaborative partnership with the business sector to promote the various inventions and researches in various fields.

In the same speech, the DOST urged all local government units in the country to support the inventors.

Dela Pena said there are inventors who crafted or created a technology that are important in many fields and contribute to the growth of agriculture, science and several others.

He also urged inventors to join the Filipino Inventors Society Producers Cooperative in order that their inventions be promoted and showcased in various parts of the country and in the world.
