3 weather systems to bring rain showers over most of PH

MANILA – Three weather systems will cause rains over most areas in the country, the weather bureau said Friday (Feb. 4).

The shear line affecting the eastern section of southern Luzon will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas and Bicol Region.

“Take precaution against possible flooding and landslides if moderate to heavy rains continue,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Benison Estareja said.

The trough of a low pressure area (LPA), on the other hand, will also bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen.

“This LPA is located somewhere in the Equator and has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. It is also likely to dissipate within 24 hours,” Estareja said.

He added that the country is not expecting any weather disturbance until the weekend.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds, moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)   -ag
