PRC receives donation from OpenText PH

Last March 18, OpenText (Philippines), Inc. turned over its donation of P670,203 to the Philippine Red Cross’s (PRC) Typhoon Odette response, 31% of which (or P157,688) came from its employees. A provider of information management products and services to digital businesses, OpenText also donated to PRC’s Taal Volcano eruption response and COVID-19 operations in 2020.

“We fully trust Red Cross … I’m just totally impressed and overwhelmed with the speed with which [PRC] mobilizes and the breadth and depth of the type of services and the type of help that [PRC] gives our countrymen during their time of need, so right now it will be our pleasure to continue to donate, and we fully trust Red Cross to do its work,” Mr. Rene Morta, OpenText Vice President and Philippine Site Leader said when asked what he expected out of OpenText’s donation for Typhoon Odette-affected families.

Mr. Morta added that OpenText hoped that a lot more companies get behind PRC Chairman and CEO, Senator Dick Gordon, “in this great effort and great passion to help our country.”

As of Mar. 18, PRC has served 140,389 hot meals, given cash grants to 1,731 families, given CGIs to 1,264 families, distributed 13,744,023 liters of water, and provided 9,628 children with child-friendly spaces in Typhoon Odette-affected barangays. Also present in the turnover were OpenText officers Joseph Avendaño and Gerard Cruz and other OpenText officers and staff. (PR) – bny
