SSS ops vs. ‘contribution evaders’ continues in Parañaque

The Social Security System (SSS) on Wednesday (April 6) resumed its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation against the non-remittance of contributions in Parañaque.

The SSS recently resumed RACE in Metro Manila to remind employers of their obligations, and the May 19 deadline for the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program 2 (PRRP 2).

Last Sunday, 10 non-compliant employers in Manila were subjected by RACE, with combined contribution delinquencies of P26.26 million from P9.12 million past-due contributions and P17.14 million penalties that affected around 95 SSS members.

SSS data showed that more than 2,000 employers way back in 2021 were listed as delinquent in the National Capital Region (NCR) West Division which is composed of the municipalities of Manila and Pasay.

Employers’ contributions are the source of benefits of employees covering sickness and maternity benefits. When not updated, employees will not be able to avail the benefits of an SSS member.

Under the Social Security Act, employers are required to deduct SSS monthly contributions for their employees from their salary.     Report from Rod Lagusad/AL-ag
