Senatorial bets face ‘The Chatroom’

Three senatorial aspirants, former Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan, Astravel “Astra” Pimentel-Naik, and Salvador “Sal” Panelo are set to answer questions on point in “The Chatroom” on Monday evening, April 11.

First on “The Chatroom” seat is former Department of Information and Communications Secretary Gringo Honasan.

Honasan won the Senate seat in 1995 to 2004 and won again in 2017 to 2019. In 2016, he ran for the vice-presidential position but lost to Vice President Leni Robredo.

In October, Honasan ended his term as the secretary of the DICT and filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to run anew for a senatorial position under PDP-Laban.

Meanwhile, Pimentel-Naik was appointed undersecretary of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas in 2018. She also served as a political affairs officer at the Office of Senator Aquilino “Koko” L. Pimentel.

Pimentel-Naik is running under PDP-Laban.

Panelo, a lawyer who served as President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s chief presidential legal counsel from 2016 to 2021 and presidential spokesperson from 2018 to 2020, will take his chances on conquering the senatorial seat.

He also served as former director of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in 1983.

Watch out for the three senatorial candidates as the head of the state puts them on the hot seat at 7:30 p.m. on PTV. –KC/gb
