Window hours, explained by MMDA

By Myris Lee

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) explained in a social media post the window hours being implemented for provincial buses which has recently caused confusion among commuters and the public.

MMDA Chairperson Atty. Romando Artes said that based on current policies all provincial buses can only terminate their routes at the North Luzon Express Terminal (NLET) in Bocaue, Bulacan, or at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) located in Parañaque City.

The MMDA said the request for the window hours was approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) after operators appealed to allow them along EDSA during the 10:00p.m. to 5:00 a.m. window hour period within a two-week dry run which started last week of March.

“Hindi ipinagbabawal na mag-operate nang lagpas sa nasabing window hours ang mga provincial buses, sa kondisyon na hindi sila magbaba at magsasakay sa kani-kanilang mga pribadong terminal at sa halip ay gagamitin nila ang integrated terminals (NLET at PITX),” the statement read.

The window hours scheme implementation resumed on Wednesday, April 20. – ag
