Over 30,000 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) will vote in special polling precincts on Monday, May 9, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said Saturday, May 7.

In the May 7 Laging Handa briefing, BJMP Spokesperson Col. Xavier Solda said 33,409 PDLs are registered voters. Of the number, 30,726 will be able to cast their votes in special polling precincts provided by the Commission on Elections.

Meanwhile, Solda said 2,683 PDLs will vote off-site.

Zero COVID-19 case

Solda said the BJMP has recorded zero COVID-19 infections among PDLs for over a month.

A total of 122,864 PDLs have been fully vaccinated, while 93,605 already received their booster shots.

Aside from COVID-19 jabs, Solda said BJMP also administered pneumococcal and flu vaccines to PDLs. -gb
