Over 65M Filipinos set to vote on May 9

More than 65 million Filipinos are expected to cast their votes on Monday, May 9, for the national and local elections.

According to the Commission on Elections, a total of 65,721,230 Filipinos are eligible to vote on Monday to choose the country’s next set of leaders.

Aside from president and vice president, also up for grabs are the following: senators (12), partylist (63), members of the House of Representatives (253), governor (81), vice governor (81), members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (782), mayor (1,634), vice mayor (1,634), and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod/Bayan (13,558).

Meanwhile, overseas Filipino voters were the first to cast their ballots as overseas absentee voting started April 10.

Based on Comelec data, a total of 1,697,215 are registered overseas voters. – gb
