Comelec: 1,867 VCMs malfunction on election day

A total of 1,867 vote counting machines (VCMs) encountered system malfunctioned in various polling precincts, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Monday, May 9.

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said the VCMs encountered paper jams, had problem with scanners and printing, and rejected voting ballots.

Meanwhile, Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo said 51 VCMs in the National Capital Region needed replacement. – gb
