Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer-in-charge LtGen. Vicente Danao thanked the 214,485 personnel from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for working hand in hand with the PNP for a peaceful and orderly May 9 elections.
In a press briefing, Danao expressed his gratitude to all the uniformed personnel from the PNP and the Comelec for supporting the management and counteracting all election-related conflicts.
“Let me extend the sincerest gratitude to all who comprise security personnel that compose the 214,485 law enforcement muscle of Comelec for a job well done, especially to all gallant PNP members,” he said.
“Further, the PNP also mobilized a total of 178,531 Force Multipliers from all over the country and we thank them also for their crucial role of linking the PNP to the community and supporting the management and neutralization of election-related conflicts on the ground,” he added.
According to the PNP, its mission is not yet done, and it will continue on implementing the rule of law and file charges against election period violators.
“But the mission of the PNP does not end there. From here, the PNP is moving on to the unfinished business of implementing the requirements of the criminal justice system particularly to violations of law committed during the election period,” Danao said.
There were a total of 16 validated election-related incidents and 19 suspected related incidents recorded from January 9 to May 9, according to the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management.
Meanwhile, the PNP vowed to continue in doing proactive measures to prevent any election-related cases and violence, as well as in coordinating with other agencies for risk and threat assessment, focus operations against lawless elements, and other election-related operations. –ag
