VP-elect Duterte set to meet Robredo’s camp for transition

Vice president-elect and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio confirmed that her team is set to meet with the team of outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo for transition plans.

The location of the incoming vice president’s office has not yet been confirmed, as she will also head the Department of Education (DepEd). The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is currently in Quezon City.

“Tatapusin po muna namin ‘yung transition namin with the OVP so we are set to release a letter today or tomorrow addressed to vice President Leni Robredo signed by me requesting for an initial meeting,” Duterte said during the oath taking of incoming Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on May 26.

The vice-president also expressed preparedness to team-up and work with her political rivals.

“Hindi lang political opponents. Everyone. I’m calling on all Filipinos to help the new administration, and help me, and my work as vice president and secretary of education,” Duterte said.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assured that security measures are in place for Duterte’s inauguration on June 19 in Davao City.

“May nakalatag po ito na security, na mga measures primarily, nakataas naman ito sa ating PSG [Presidential Security Group]… Sa amin naman sa AFP, we will ensure the peace and order,” AFP Civil Relations Group Commander Major Cenon Pancito said in an interview. – Report from Daniel Manalastas/ML–ag
