5 more BA.2.12.1 cases reported

The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded five new cases of Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1 in Western Visayas involving three returning overseas Filipinos and two local cases who are all fully vaccinated.

This brings the total number of the subvariant in the country to 22, of which 18 are locally acquired, and four returnees in Western Visayas.

Meanwhile, the DOH said in a Viber message to reporters that no additional BA.4 cases were recorded by local health authorities. 

The first case reported on May 21 who flew from the Middle East has already “completed the mandatory quarantine and is now recovered and asymptomatic.”  AG – gb
