By Myris Lee

A total of 106 volcanic earthquakes were recorded in Mount Bulusan in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Monday, June 13.

Phivolcs said 48 volcanic tremors which lasted for 20 minutes were also plotted.

The state volcanologists also urged the public to be alert of another possible phreatic or steam-driven eruption.

Phivolcs also recorded an outflow of volcanic sulfur dioxide, averaging 4,627 tonnes per day as of June 12.

It also noted that the plume from the crater of the volcano surfaced to 500 meters tall then drifted west-northwest while its edifice was also inflated.

Mount Bulusan is still placed under Alert Level 1 status. – gb
