Bacolod City mayor orders police to ensure peace and order

BACOLOD CITY – Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has urged the police here to ensure peace and order to make the Bacolodnons feel safe.

This was stressed by Leonardia to Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, newly-appointed officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), during their first meeting on Monday afternoon.

Peace and order is a must, the mayor said.

“We have to create a sense of security for our constituents to feel that our police are working and Bacolod is secured,” he added.

Leonardia said the city government wants to preserve the image that Bacolod is a business-friendly and a city which provides a climate conducive for growth and development.

On Tuesday, Ebreo held a command conference with all 10 police station chiefs and staff of BCPO at the city police headquarters.

Ebreo, chief of Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division (RIDMD) of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, was named officer-in-charge of BCPO last weekend.

Ebreo assumed the post over the weekend after the relief of Superintendent Roderick Minong on Saturday.

Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of PRO-6, said that Ebreo is occupying the BCPO top post in a concurrent capacity since he remains as chief of RIDMD.

Ebreo will stay as BCPO chief until Mayor Evelio Leonardia chooses the next city police director.

Minong was appointed OIC at the height of 2017 MassKara Festival in October, succeeding Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, who was relieved as acting city police director following the successive robberies in this city.

Minong returned to the PRO-6 headquarters in Iloilo City as head of the Regional Public Safety Battalion. (PNA)
