PNP vows support to Marcos administration

The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured its support to the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

According to PNP Office-in-Charge PLt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., the agency will keep the “government presence” throughout the country as the “premier law enforcement” and “public safety agency.”

“With this, we will be able to establish a favorable peace and order environment conducive for industries to grow, generate jobs and support government programs,” Danao said.

Danao expressed his optimism for a more peaceful and orderly country throughout the administration of the newly installed Chief Executive.

“We are now reaping the fruits of our labor. It wasn’t an easy fight since criminality has been evolving alongside the advancement in technology,” he added.

“Criminals have found strategic and innovative ways to execute their illegal intents. But the PNP organization took this challenge constructively,” Danao continued.

‘Declining’ crime incidents

Meanwhile, Danao noted there is a decline in crime incidents during the past six years from July 2016 to June 2022 under the Duterte administration.

He explained that this nationwide crime environment data was collated from the 17 regional police offices that showed the past six years under the administration of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte posting a 67.79% decline in the index crime incident and non-index crime recording a 34.47% drop.

Theft, physical injury, and robbery are the most prevalent index crimes, according to the PNP’s Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System. – gb
