President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. spearheaded the flag raising ceremony in Malacañang on Monday morning, July 4, his first since he assumed office on June 30.

The newly installed head of state was elated to join the ceremony and to be able to meet his colleagues in the Palace.

“I am very, very happy to have attended today’s flag ceremony to at least be with you a little bit and to start to know kung who is occupying the offices around in the Palace, and to know that the passion and enthusiasm that we saw in the campaign remains especially with the Malacañang staff at napakaimportante niyan,” he said.

Marcos assured Palace staff that there is nothing to worry about amid the new faces and changes in the administration.

“For sure na hindi siguro — hindi naman siguro kayo magtataka maraming — may mga bago. Alam niyo naman kani-kanilang style ‘yan. So may magbabago pero huwag ninyong aalalahanin,” he added.

“So may magbabago pero huwag ninyong aalalahanin. We [always] consider you. Hindi kayo ang empleyado namin. You are our partners. Hindi namin magagawa iyong gagawin namin kung hindi sa inyo,” he continued.

Marcos also urged his colleagues in the Palace to continue with their dedication in their line of work.

“‘Yung trabaho niyo when you sit at your desk and you do something and you make a decision or you push something or you expedite something that affects not only you, not only me, that affects millions of people. Kaya’t napakaimportante na itama natin ‘yang ating gagawing trabaho,” he stressed.

Marcos expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he had received, saying that he is looking forward to meeting them “individually” to strengthen their “working relationship.” – ag
