Ifugao continues clearing ops following heavy rains, floods

Clearing operations resumed on Sunday, July 10 in Banaue, Ifugao, following torrential rains and mudslides that hit roads and homes in the province.

Banaue, Ifugao Mayor Joel Bungallon already declared a state of calamity in the town.

Bungallon added the continuous rains and floods disrupted their transportation and caused road closure.

More than 1,000 families were affected, three houses were totally damaged, 1,044 were partially damaged, while six individuals were injured.

As of June 10, a total of 133 hectares of rice fields were affected amounting to P21.8 million, while 527 rice farmers were hit hard by the calamity.

Moreover, Ifugao LGU said they are preparing for relief assistance to the affected families, and continuously accepting donations from the national government. —Report from Florence Paytocan/KC – gb
