LPA, ‘habagat’ to bring rains across PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Many areas in the country will experience rains brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat and a low pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said on Tuesday, July 19.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was last tracked 95 kilometers northwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

“It has a small chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. The LPA is also likely to dissipate either today or tomorrow,” PAGASA said.

Due to the two weather systems, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Mimaropa, Western and Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte.

Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by the habagat and localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon and the western section of central and Southern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)-ngs
