Marcos Jr. vows to boost PH tourism

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed to create additional airports and develop roads to boost the country’s tourism which have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his first State of the Nation Address, Marcos recognized the tourism sector’s significant role in promoting the “Filipino brand,” including providing opportunities, livelihood, and employment to Filipinos.

Marcos added that among his first plans is to improve the road to provide easier access to tourism spots, including creating more international airports to “help decongest the bottleneck at the Manila International Airport.”

Through the help of the Department of Tourism and the Department of Public Works and Highways, Marcos said the government will work “hand in hand to provide convenience for travelers” as they visit the country and have easy access to transportation even to remote areas. – gb
