NTC orders telcos to give free call, charging services

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has ordered all public telecommunication entities to deploy free call and charging services following the earthquake that hit Luzon on Wednesday morning, July 27.

“As earlier discussed, you are hereby directed to deploy Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging Stations in strategic areas affected by the earthquake in Abra this morning,” the NTC said in a memorandum.

“You are also reminded to observe strict health protocols to avoid the transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” it added.

NTC Director Mildado Lee of the Cordillera Administrative Region was tapped “to monitor and oversee” the directive’s implementation. AG-gb
