The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMO) and the local government units (LGU) of Abra are giving rescue and relief assistance to the victims of the magnitude 7 major earthquake that struck the province.

In the Laging Handa briefing, Lagangilang, Abra MDRRMO Officer Michael Brillantes said that they conducted an inspection in the affected areas in the province.

“Nagmomonitor kami, nagro-roving kami… Ang karamihan is damaged to houses, ang karamihang napinsala,” Brillantes said.

Brillantes said their LGUs are ready to conduct various relief and rescue operations.

“Yun din ang unang gagawin ng local government units namin, ang mamigay ng relief assistance,” he added.

Brillantes said residents have been reminded to evacuate and stay away from damaged houses and establishments, as they do not have any report yet on the extent of damages. –ag
