Magnitude 5.6 quake jolts DavOr town

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolted Manay, Davao Oriental before dawn on Wednesday, Aug. 3, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck 51 kilometers southeast of Manay at 3:19 a.m. It had a depth of 20 kilometers.

Intensity IV was recorded in Manay, Tarragona, and Caraga in Davao Oriental; while Intensity III was felt in Mati City and Baganga, and Intensity II in Davao City. 

Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Nabunturan in Davao de Oro, Malungon in Sarangani, and Davao City.

No damages are expected but aftershocks may take place.  –ag
