The southwest monsoon (habagat) will dampen most areas in Luzon, the weather bureau said Monday, Aug. 8.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Region 4-B (Mimaropa), and Central Luzon.

Lght to moderate, with at times heavy rains are also likely over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, northern Palawan and Kalayaan Islands.

PAGASA said scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas highly susceptible to these hazards.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over the western section of Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. – gb
