Walden Bello arrested for cyber libel

By Gabriela Baron

Former vice presidential aspirant Walden Bello was arrested on Monday, Aug. 8, by members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for a cyber libel case.

Bello’s arrest was made around 4:00 p.m. at his house in Quezon City.

According to Police Lt. Col. Gilmore Wasin, Chief of Police of Project 4 Police Station, Bello’s arrest warrant stemmed from a cyber libel case filed by former Davao City Information Officer Jefry Tupas against him.

Tupas filed the case in April after Bello accused her of being a “drug dealer” in an online press conference in March.

Bello earlier labeled Tupas’ cyber libel complaint as “politically motivated.” – ngs
