28-K COVID-19 cases recorded last week

A total of 28,008 additional COVID-19 cases were recorded from Aug. 8 to 14 with a daily average case count of 4,001, the  Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, Aug. 15.

The cases in the past week were higher by 3% than the cases from Aug. 1 to 7 at 27, 331. 

There were 101 severe and critical cases and 229 verified fatalities.

As of Aug. 14, the non-intensive care unit (ICU) bed utilization is at 30.9%, while the ICU bed utilization is at 28%, higher than the previous week’s 24.8%. There were also 822 severe and critical admissions.

Meanwhile, the DOH shared that 72,107,090 or 92.33% of the target population are fully vaccinated and 17,015,413 had their booster shots. -ag
