DSWD chief Tulfo: Educational cash aid payout until Sept. 24

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo said there is no need to crowd in their offices on Saturday, Aug. 20, for the distribution of educational cash aid as the payout will continue every Saturday until Sept. 24. 

Tulfo announced on Thursday that the DSWD will be providing P1,000 to P4,000 cash assistance to all indigents students in the country in preparation for the opening of classes.

“Hindi po kailangan magsiksikan bukas (Sabado, August 20), hanggang September 24 po ang payout sa estudyante,” he said in a Facebook post.

The DSWD Central Office will open its gate at 7:00 a.m., while their field offices and satellite offices in different regions will start admitting applicants and give pay-outs at 8:00 a.m.

All qualified students-in-crisis can use the cash assistance in paying school fees, buying school supplies, and other school necessities.

An elementary student will receive P1,000, while a qualified highschool level student will receive P2,000. A senior highschool student will be granted an amount of P3,000, and P4,000 will be given for a vocational and college student.

According to DSWD, the qualified students-in-crisis for the educational assistance payout are breadwinners, working students, child of a solo parent, child of an Overseas Filipino Worker, student whose parent/s has acquired human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), orphaned or abandoned child, child of an unemployed parents, victim of abuse, and calamity-affected victim.

Student applicants shall bring their certificate of registration and enrollment, or any proof of enrollment of the applicant, as well as valid IDs of the guardian and the student.

Meanwhile, DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo reminded the public not to overcrowd their offices as they have allotted enough time to claim cash aids.  -ag
