DepEd: All systems go for Aug. 22 class opening

It is all systems go for the Department of Education (DepEd) for the opening of classes on Monday, Aug. 22. 

Based on DepEd data, there are already more than 27 million enrollees, close to its target enrollees of 28 million for both blended learning and in-person classes.

The education department said that it is expecting more enrollees on the first day of classes.

“Tatlong araw na lang po ay magbabalik eskwela na po tayo, and all systems go na po tayo sa opening ng classes,” DepEd Spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa said.

Meanwhile, DepEd announced that it will be giving a P5,000 cash allowance for all teaching personnel.

The DepEd also said that more than 900,000 teaching personnel were already vaccinated, and assured that there will be sufficient supply of face masks and alcohol, while minimum public health protocols will be applied in every school establishment.

“‘Yung sa paghihikayat sa ating mga learners, talagang yung counseling sisimulan na po namin yan for our parent , learner, teaching and non-teaching staff para hikayatin sila,” Poa said. -Report from Daniel Manalastas/KC-ag
