MANILA – The northeast monsoon is affecting extreme northern Luzon while the tail-end of a cold front is affecting the eastern section of northern and central Luzon, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

Metro Manila and the Cordillera, Calabarzon, and Bicol regions, as well as the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the tail-end of a cold front, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 24-hour weather forecast.

The Ilocos region, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands meanwhile will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon, it added.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially over the eastern section due to localized thunderstorms.

Winds will be moderate to strong while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in northern Luzon and the eastern part of central and southern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
