Classes, gov’t work suspended due to ‘Florita’

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has announced suspension of classes in all levels and work in government offices in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan due to Tropical Storm “Florita,” according to Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles.

Marcos Jr., through Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez, acted upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

“The President has declared a suspension of work and classes in all levels today until tomorrow, for all government offices and public schools, due to Severe Tropical Storm Florita,” Cruz-Angeles.

“The heavy rains pose possible risks to the general public biased on the recommendations of the Office of Civil Defense. The same course of action for private schools and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” she added.

The suspension is effective until Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will be experienced over the northern portion of Aurora, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the rest of Central Luzon and the rest of Calabarzon.

“Florita” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Wednesday morning.
