The Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office indicted the driver of the Mandaluyong hit-and-run incident for frustrated homicide.
In a resolution dated June 29, prosecutors found probable cause to indict Jose Antonio Sanvicente. They likewise dismissed the complaint of abandonment of person’s in danger and one’s own victim due to lack of probable cause.
On June 5, Sanvicente, aboard Toyota RAV4, ran over security guard Christian Florande who was directing traffic along Julia Vargas Avenue and St. Francis Street.
Florande was then rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed to be suffering from internal bleeding and fractured ribs.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) found Sanvicente guilty of Reckless Driving and Duty of Driver in case of Accident.
Sanvicente’s license has been revoked by the LTO and is “perpetually disqualified” from securing a driver’s license and driving a motor vehicle.
The agency said Sanvicente’s license is now in the possession of the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division.
“As the administrative violation of Mr. Sanvicente is already resolved by the LTO, it now leaves to the country’s courts to decide on the criminal aspect of his case,” LTO said.
