The country’s daily average of COVID-19 cases has decreased by 15%, independent research group OCTA reported Sunday, Aug. 28.

In a report, OCTA Research Fellow Dr. Guido David said there were 2,959 average new daily cases over the past seven days, a 15 percent drop from the previous week’s average of 3,487.

David also noted that the current average daily attack rate is now at 2.69 per 100,000 population, which is considered “low.”

The reproduction number also decreased to 0.91 as of Aug. 24, from 0.96 on Aug. 17, while the Philippines’ COVID-19 positivity rate dropped from 16.2% to 14.3% as of Aug. 26.

“If this current trends in the growth rate hold, this projects to less than 1,000 cases per day nationwide by mid September and less than 500 per day by end of September,” he added.
