Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday, Sept. 15, announced the city government has allowed the voluntary wearing of face masks in open areas and places that are not crowded.

Ordinance No. 8672 which required the mandatory use of face masks in public settings has been amended by Ordinance No. 8901.

The latest move is in accordance with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s under Executive Order No. 3.

Lacuna urged her constituents to continue to wear face masks especially senior citizens, unvaccinated individuals, and those who are immunocompromised.

She also reminded that physical distancing should be observed at all times, as well as to get fully vaccinated with booster shots.

She told the public to be more cautious despite the amendment and to continue to comply with the government’s public health protocols.  -ag
