Agriculture damage from ‘Karding’ reaches P160.1-M

Agricultural damage from Super Typhoon “Karding” has reached P160.1 million, according to data from the Department of Agriculture (DA).

This is equivalent to 3,780 farmers and 16,659 hectares of agricultural areas affected.

The volume of production lost was at 7,457 metric tons.

Affected commodities include rice, corn, high value crops, and fisherings.

“The DA continuously coordinates with concerned [national government agencies], [local government units], and other [Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils],” DA said.

The latest estimates released by DA covered Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Bicol Region.

“Karding” left the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, causing damage in several areas in Luzon and leaving eight dead. -ag
