One individual was confirmed dead and 10 others were injured in a construction site accident in Quezon City on Tuesday morning, Oct. 4.

The Quezon City government said the incident took place at around 9:00 a.m. at a construction site in Barangay Balingasa, with 10 workers rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital for medical attention.

As of Tuesday afternoon, five of the 10 injured have been released from the facility while the others are still recovering from minor injuries.

“While the private contractor has already extended assistance to its workers, the city government has ordered concerned city offices to assist the family of the deceased and the injured victims,” the QC government said in a statement.

“The City Architect and Infrastructure Committee of the city government have extensively inspected the site and its surroundings,” it added.

An investigation has been set to determine whether or not there were lapses in standard construction procedures compliance, as well as for the recommendation of measures to prevent a similar incident from happening again.  – gb
