NCRPO has person of interest in Lapid slay case

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) now has a person of interest regarding the murder of veteran broadcast commentator Percival Mabasa or Percy Lapid on Monday night in Las Piñas City.

This was confirmed by the NCRPO in a briefing in Bicutan, Taguig on Friday, Oct. 7.

The digital enhanced image of the victim’s assailant was also shown.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos urged the public to help them hunt down the perpetrator by reporting it to the hotline of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Sana naman sa mga nanonood at nakikinig ngayon, any information sa taong ito, ibigay niya kaagad dito sa PNP,” Abalos said. 

He also asked the gunman to surrender to the authorities.

The NCRPO said no additional information was gathered from the victim’s phone. 

The total amount of the reward money for the killer has reached P1.5 million. Task Force Lapid is currently investigating the motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, the NCRPO will intensify its “Oplan Sita” on checkpoints. —Report from Noel Talacay/KC-ag
