DA sets SRP for red onions in wet markets in Metro Manila

By Gabriela Baron

The Department of Agriculture (DA) imposed on Monday, Oct. 10, a suggested retail price (SRP) for red onions in wet markets in Metro Manila.

Based on Administrative Circular No. 9, dated Oct. 7, 2022, DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban set a P170 retail price per kilogram (kg) of red onions in wet markets in Metro Manila.

“[In] order not to aggravate the current difficulties of the Filipino people affected by the pandemic and rising fuel prices, there is a need to guide the consuming public on the reasonable prices of basic necessities in the market,” the circular read.

DA price monitoring data show onions sold in major markets in Metro Manila are sold around P190 to P250 per kg.
