Trough of Neneng to bring rains over parts of Luzon, Visayas

Some areas in Luzon and the Visayas will experience rains due to the trough of Tropical Depression Neneng, the weather bureau said Friday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Biliran, and Samar.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Strong to gale force winds associated with northeasterly surface windflow will cause rough to very rough seas over the seaboards of northern Luzon (Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan) and rough seas over the western seaboard of central Luzon (Zambales).

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture out into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Meanwhile, Neneng packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and wind gusts of up to 70 kph. It was last tracked 1,015 km. east of extreme northern Luzon.

The TD is expected to bring heavy rains over northern Luzon on Saturday, PAGASA said. (PNA)
