Scattered rains seen in some parts of PH as ‘Neneng’ exits PAR

Some areas in the country will continue to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms even as Typhoon Neneng already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the weather bureau said Monday, Oct. 17.

These weather conditions are caused by the trough of the typhoon and the southwesterly surface windflow. Scattered rain showers will prevail over Western Visayas and the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

Flash floods or landslides are likely due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the northern and western seaboard of Northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Over Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. – gb
