President Ferdinand R. Marcos on Sunday, Oct. 23, hailed Bacolod City for holding the most successful Masskara Festival after a two-year hiatus.

“I am pleased that, after a two-year hiatus, this opportunity has once again opened its doors to visitors from various places here and abroad to enjoy the beauty and bounty of your city,” the President said in his speech at Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City.

“As the full return of this festival opens us with more opportunities, I hope that the city government will continue its programs and projects that aim to improve your services and the lives of your constituents,” he added.

In his speech, the Chief Executive also lauded the city government for the launching of the Bacolod Comprehensive Health Program, which grants easy access to hospitalization services and free annual consultations with complementary medicines.

The President also cited the upcoming launch of the Social Pension Fund for Senior Citizens, which will help in addressing the basic necessities and medicine of the elderly.

“Through initiatives like these that prioritize the well-being of our people, I am certain that we can make our society free from the threat of disease and implement preventive measures that strengthen their health,” he said.

Marcos also recognized the launching of Bacolod’s Markets of the Future and the establishment of Task Force Butagoy.

Markets of the Future campaign aims to rehabilitate Bacolod City’s market facilities to make them safer, cleaner, and more beneficial to their citizens.

Meanwhile, Task Force Butagoy operates to prevent “hot meat” entering the city’s small and major markets.
