President Ferdinand R. Marcos on Wednesday, October 26, asked government partners to help the administration in building a better and more progressive future in the field of information and communications technology (ICT) and the bureaucracy.

Speaking at the National Information and Communications Technology Summit 2022 at the Manila Hotel, the President said that the country can still keep up in the digitalization despite it lags behind other countries as it has the tools, knowledge, and manpower.

“All that is left to do is to have the will and the resolve to achieve it,” Marcos said.

“So I reiterate my call to our partners; Let us forge ahead, build a better, brighter, more progressive future for the ICT sector, for the bureaucracy, for the entire Philippines,” he added.

The President also urged the Congress to promptly pass the E-governance and E-government bills  as they will help in ensuring a swift, transparent, and efficient government services.

“I, therefore, call on all our fellow servant-leaders in Congress to help accelerate the approval of these bills once again,” he added.

Marcos added that the Philippines could achieve a digital country by increasing digital infrastructure, improving regulatory framework for innovation, ensuring cybersecurity, and developing the country’s digital workforce.

“So let’s work together to optimize the opportunities provided by ICT for nation-building,” he continued.

The President is optimistic the country can be better as there are many Filipino ICT professionals that are skilled in the said field despite the country’s ranking at 89th out of 193 countries in the United Nations E-government Survey.
