BACOOR CITY, Cavite — Hundreds of job aspirants and employment seekers flocked to the jobs, trade and livelihood fairs hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Bacoor City government at the Bacoor Government Center Strike Gym here Thursday.
Dubbed as “TNK or Trabaho, Negosyo and Kabuhayan”, the event was graced by Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, 2nd District Representative Strike Revilla, and other Cavite local officials.
DTI-Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Assistant Regional Director Marcelina Alcantara and DOLE 4-A Regional Director Maria Angara-Campita spearheaded the event with DTI-Cavite Director Noly Guevarra and other TESDA officials.
Some 37 companies and firms participated in the jobs fair, such as the SM Group of companies, Asia Brewery, Puregold, Chowking, among other employment agencies, and the government sector, such as the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
TESDA also offered free massage and haircut to job applicants.
DTI-Calabarzon and the Cavite DTI provincial office also led the trade exhibits of Cavite products, featuring the popular Imus longganisa, mushroom chicharon, tahong chips, wine from different fruits, artificial flower decors, and locally produced perfumes, soaps and handicrafts.
Mayor Lani and Rep. Strike Revilla thanked the organizers for staging the sixth job fair in Bacoor City, which generated employment opportunities and jobs for Cavite constituents, hoping to sustain the job fairs to generate more jobs.
DTI, DOLE, TESDA and partner local government units also signed their Declaration of Commitment to spur inclusive growth, scale up livelihood and income sources for constituents, create decent jobs, promote entrepreneurship in localities, reduce unemployment, especially among the youth sector, and intensify education and training that match industry demands.
The jobs fair likewise aimed to intensify the conduct of job fairs and raise public awareness through employment and training sessions on basic labor rights. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
