A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit waters off Dalupiri Island in Cagayan Province Monday afternoon, Nov. 7, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, hit eight kilometers (km) southwest of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan at 1:34 p.m.
It had a depth of focus of 12 km.
Intensity V was felt in Calayan, Cagayan; Intensity IV in Claveria, Sanchez Mira, Pamplona, and Santa Praxedes in Cagayan; Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte; Intensity III in Santa Marcela, Pudtol, Calanasan, and Luna in Apayao; Abulug, Ballesteros, Enrile, Allacapan, and Aparri in Cagayan; and Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte.
Meanwhile, Intensity II was felt in Lal-lo, Buguey, Lasam, Penablanca, Tuguegarao City, and Camalaniugan in Cagayan; and Bacarra in Ilocos Norte; Intensity I in Sinait in Ilocos Sur.
Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Gonzaga, Cagayan, Batac City, Ilocos Norte, and Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Instrumental II in Penablanca, Cagayan and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; and Instrumental III in Claveria, Cagayan and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
No damages reported but aftershocks are expected.
