UP, Ateneo fall in latest QS Asia rankings

The University of the Philippines (UP) and Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) ranked lower in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia rankings released on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The 2022 QS Asia University Rankings ranked UP at 87th, 10 spots lower than its 2022 ranking, while AdMU fell at 134th, also 10 places lower than its last year’s ranking.

Meanwhile, De La Salle University jumped nine places, from 160th in 2022 to 171st in the latest ranking. University of Santo Tomas also went two places up at 177th, from 175th.

Other Philippine universities that made it to the rankings were: Silliman University (551-600), Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (601-650), Saint Louis University (651-700), Xavier University (651-700), Adamson University (701-750), Cebu Technological University (701-750), Central Luzon State University (701-750), Central Mindanao University (701-750), Central Philippine University (701-750), and Lyceum of the Philippine University (701-750).

Peking University in China took the top spot, overtaking last year’s number one university, National University of Singapore, in second place.

This year’s rankings featured 760 Asian universities, the biggest to date.

The rankings were based on academic and employer reputations, the number of staff holding a PhD, and the percentage of international students. –ag
