Bacolod police to maximize personnel vs. crimes

BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will maximize its almost a thousand personnel and augmentation forces to prevent crimes.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, who assumed his post as officer-in-charge less than a week ago, said in a press conference Friday afternoon that the police will ensure that the presence of uniformed men will be felt.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia urged the police to ensure peace and order to make the Bacolodnons feel safe after he met with Ebreo last Monday.

Ebreo said the BCPO has existing 680 policemen augmented by 311 personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion.

He added that policemen in the field should engage with the community so they can easily respond during untoward incidents.

Ebreo held a command conference with all 10 police station chiefs and staff at the city police headquarters on Tuesday.

For his part, Leonardia said the city government wants to preserve the image that Bacolod is a business-friendly city which provides a climate conducive for growth and development.

“We have to create a sense of security for our constituents to feel that our police are working and Bacolod is secure,” he added.

Ebreo, chief of the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division (RIDMD) at the Philippine National Police regional office, was named officer-in-charge on November 25.

He assumed the post after the relief of Superintendent Roderick Minong, while he remains as RIDMD chief.

Ebreo will stay as BCPO chief until Mayor Evelio Leonardia chooses the next city police director. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
