7 in 10 Filipinos expect happy Christmas – SWS poll

About 7 in 10 Filipinos are expecting a happy Christmas this year, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll showed.

The poll, conducted from Dec. 10 to 14, revealed that 73% of adult Filipinos said they are expecting this coming Christmas to be happy, while 19% said they are expecting it be neither happy nor sad.

Meanwhile, 7% said they are expecting it to be sad.

The expectation of a happy Christmas was a record-high 82% when first surveyed by SWS in 2002.

On the other hand, the same survey found 49% said Christmas is happier now than before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The poll was conducted through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults and had a sampling error margin of ±2.5% for national percentages, and ±5.7% for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. -ag
