LIST: Road closures, alternate routes for Feast of Black Nazarene

Several roads in Manila will be closed to traffic until Monday, Jan. 9, in preparation for the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

In an advisory, the Manila Public Information Office said the stretch roads of Independence road, Katigbak drive, and south drive as well as the Roxas boulevard northbound and southbound from Katigbak drive to south drive will be closed to traffic until Jan. 9. 

From Jan. 7 to Jan. 9 at 7:00 p.m onwards, the listed roads will be closed as well.

  • Quezon boulevard northbound and southbound (from A. Mendoza/Fugoso to Quezon bridge, straight to Padre Burgos Park ‘n Ride)
  • España boulevard westbound and eastbound (from P. Campa to A. Mendoza)
  • Stretch of Evangelista St. (from Plaza San Juan to Recto avenue)
  • Stretch of Raon St. (G. Puyat) (from Evangelista to Quezon boulevard.)
  • Stretch of P. Paterno St. (from Quezon boulevard to Evangelista)
  • Stretch of Carriedo St. (from Rizal avenue to Plaza San Juan)
  •  Stretch of C. Palanca St. (from McArthur bridge to Quiapo Ilalim/Quinta Market straight to P. Casal)
  • Stretch of Bustos St. (from Plaza Sta. Cruz to Rizal avenue)
  • Northbound lane of Rizal Avenue (from Carriedo to Recto Ave)
  • Northbound lane of McArthur bridge
  • Eastbound and Westbound lane of Recto avenue (from Rizal avenue to Nicanor Reyes St.)
  • Stretch of Nicanor Reyes St. (from España boulevard to Recto avenue)

The public is advised to take alternative routes to the point of destination.

The traditional “Traslacion” was suspended to avoid the spread of coronavirus. However, feast activities will be conducted including the “Walk of Faith” and “Pagbibigay-pugay” to the image of the Black Nazarene.
