President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 8, confirmed the appointment of lawyer Faydah Dumarpa as one of the commissioners of the Commission of Human Rights (CHR).
Dumarpa, who hails from Lanao de Sur, will serve a full term of seven years from 2022 to 2029.
In 2001, Dumarpa worked as a political affairs officer in the House of Representatives and became further involved in policy and research in 2012 as a legislative staff officer in the Senate.
In 2013, she joined the National Power Corporation as a corporate lawyer.
Prior to being appointed Commissioner to the CHR, Dumarpa served as Deputy Executive Director III for Administrative and Financial Service in the National Nutrition Council of the Department of Health in 2021.
In September 2022, Dumarpa joined the Procurement Service-Department of Budget and Management as Director IV for the Administrative and Financial Group.
CHR welcomed the appointment of Dumarpa and her future contributions to the “policy, protection, promotion, and prevention work of the Commission.”
“Her overall multidisciplinary perspective comes as a great benefit to the ever-flourishing landscape of human rights,” CHR said in a statement.”
“We are positive that with independence, pluralism, broad mandate, transparency, accessibility, and operational efficiency at the core of the institution, we can resolutely carry out our mandate for the dignity and rights of all Filipinos.”
