DOH warns public vs fake posts using Vergeire’s name

By Gabriela Baron

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, Jan. 8, warned the public against fake posts circulating online using the name of its official.

In an advisory, DOH said the fabricated post used the name of its officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire and a local news agency to spread false information about a certain “cure” for heart disease.

“The DOH clarifies that no such scenario or statement has been made by the department and its officials,” DOH said.

“[The] Department reminds everyone that non-communicable diseases and comorbidities such as heart disease and hypertension can be prevented by practicing healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle such as proper diet and exercise among others,” it added.

It also advised the public to “regularly and annually have check-ups” and consult a physician.
